With spirited specials and awe-inspiring digs, afternoon dining at this culinary trinity is practically a religious experience.

Holy Spirits
7318 E. Stetson Dr., Scottsdale
480-945-1323, holyspiritsscottsdale.com
Thanks to new ownership and an extreme makeover, the formerly dive-like Social Tap has been reincarnated as a posh cocktail lounge. Rustic plank floors combine with a cool, chic, mint and white palette for a trendy yet relaxing atmosphere that soothes the soul. Holy Spirits boasts about 20 rotating brews on tap, such as Northwest Brewing Company Joker Amber Ale and Grand Canyon Brewing Company American Pilsner, available for $5 each during happy hour. Deals are limited to drinks, but tapas-style plating makes for a low tab – especially if you’re sharing with a group. Craft cocktails cost only $7; pair lemon-butter salmon ($7) with an Unholy Manhattan or chase shaved fennel salad ($6) with a pear-spiked Colorado Seduction. Come on Sundays for additional deals including $4 Bloody Marys and well drinks. 11 a.m.-10 p.m. M-F.

Taco Guild
546 E. Osborn Rd., Phoenix
602-264-4143, tacoguild.com
A hip, historical hangout, Taco Guild is tucked inside a deconsecrated church originally built in 1893. Reminders of the building’s former incarnation are everywhere, from vaulted ceilings to stained glass windows and varnished pew seating. Relax after the daily grind with a $5 “1893 margarita,” or make a pilgrimage to the altar bar for The Socializer, a sassy combo of draft brew and Cabrito Reposado tequila ($6). Draft brews and wines by the glass are just $5 each, making it worth a few extra Hail Marys for overindulgence. The Guild’s upscale street tacos average three to four bills each, and those in the know can score a special daily taco for $1.99 from 3-7 p.m. Past selections have ranged from a cheeseburger version to holiday tacos stuffed with mashed potatoes and turkey. 4-7 p.m. M-F, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sa, 2 p.m.-close Su.

Padre Murphy’s
4338 W. Bell Rd., Glendale
602-547-9406, padremurphy.com
Named after founder Tom Boyle’s childhood priest, this west side gem has seen many prayers muttered within its walls – namely, that the Cardinals cover the spread or the Diamondbacks score two in the ninth. Sports are clearly king here, as evidenced by the framed jerseys and half-dozen flat screens surrounding the newly renovated bar. Craft brews, wine and cocktails are $1 off at happy hour. Nab a stool or an octagonal hi-top and enjoy bar classics like potato skins ($4.50) and fried pickles ($2.50) washed down with $2.75 domestic drafts including Bud and Michelob Ultra. Or catch the latest game and score big with a hearty taco platter ($3.99) chased with a classic Irish Car Bomb ($4) or a blazing autumn bomb with Angry Orchard Hard Cider and Fireball Cinnamon Whisky ($6). 4-6:30 p.m. M-F.
