Leave it to the party-centric Old Town restaurant group behind El Hefe and Whiskey Row to raise the burger bar concept to EDM tempos. Set on the Scotts-dale Waterfront, Hand Cut offers its flagship Classic Burger N’ Beer combo at happy hour: a juicy, beefy cheeseburger and craft beer for $10, which is $4-$5 less than you’d pay normally. The complementary happy hour cast is great, too, like the Provençal herb-rubbed wings (half-off at $6) and a large order of the titular “hand cut” salt and vinegar fries ($3), which get a heavy-handed sprinkling of fresh dill and seasoning. It’s summertime, so take the bartender up on a buoyant, three-buck-off glass of Spanish Poema rosé ($5), amidst a killer selection of specially priced $8 cocktails. 3-6 p.m. M-F.

Cold Beers & Cheeseburgers

If a traditional sports bar setting is where you feel most at home eating discounted cheeseburgers, then you’ll find your Huckleberry at any of CB&CB’s six locations across the Valley – including the newest location on Seventh Street in Uptown Phoenix. Rest assured, the beer is indeed cold, and happy hour will save you $1 on a moderately hoppy and citrusy CB&CB IPA ($4) – a collaboration between the local chain and Tempe’s Four Peaks Brewing Company. Also discounted: the American burger ($8, down from $11) with its rich, caramelized edges and gooey yellow cheese. Veg-heads save $3 on cooked veggies – grilled asparagus spears and Roma tomatoes drizzled in olive oil and salty Parmigiano-Reggiano ($5) – which might make them feel a tad less guilty about the ensuing meat bomb. 3 -6 p.m. M-F.

Chomping down on cheeseburgers and sliders in sleek, neon-lit Delux is a time-honored Phoenix tradition. Open reliably late in a corridor of town where most citizens turn in early, it offers a reverse happy hour to night owls and “industry people” in need of a late dinner. Dollar-off sliders ($11.95/pair) showcase slightly charred beef hanging generously over the bun, suggesting it’s been smashed down on the grill, yielding a crispy exterior around juicy pink beef. Delux takes pride in its beer selection, so opt for its three-beer flight ($7, instead of $9), so you can get a crisp, classic Brooklyn Brewery lager to pair with the burger and a Noche Dulce vanilla porter from Tucson’s Borderland Brewing Co., which will end up doubling as dessert. 3-7 p.m., M-F, 10 p.m.-2 a.m. M-Su.
