Barbecue and beer go together like Phoenix and sunshine. March your little piggies down to these three smokin' happy hours for discount drinks and starters worth squealing over.

1445 S. Arizona Ave., Chandler

Porkopolis is hog heaven at happy hour. Park your porker on a plush red bench and get a chuckle from the cheeky Battle of the Sexes BBQ instruction guide posted on the open kitchen's main wall while pigging out on half-price battered and fried dill pickles ($3.50).

Other worthwhile starters include $5 "redneck" tacos served on griddled corn cakes and mountainous kettle chip nachos topped with smoky chicken or brisket ($5.50). Draft beers like Shock Top and Firestone IPA are also half-off, though it's worth the extra dough to spring for Porkopolis' moonshine cocktails.

PHM 800x800 FPO

With varieties ranging from classic Front Porch Tea to a mojito made with pineapple 'shine, these $5 backwoods libations will have you crying "whee, whee, whee!" all the way home. 4-6:30 p.m. M-F.

Dillon's Restaurant (Arrowhead)
20585 N. 59th Ave., Glendale

Opened in 2005, this outpost of George Valverde and Rich Dillon's four-restaurant empire boasts all the trappings of a good sports bar: high-topped tables, dim lighting, flowing drafts and big-screen TVs playing the night's top games. Kansas City-style barbecue is Dillon's specialty.

Feast on $5 catfish bites and $7 pork, brisket or turkey sliders smothered with house barbecue sauce, or dine on the cheap with fried zucchini paired with a light and crisp domestic pint ($2 each).

Featured drink specials rotate daily, from margarita Tuesdays to rum and coke Fridays. Celebrate hump day with screwdrivers and wind down the week with classic Bloody Marys at Sunday brunch ($3.25 each). 2-7 p.m. daily. Bar only.

Cave Creek Smokehouse & Pour House Patio
6245 E. Cave Creek Rd., Cave Creek

Tucked inside Cave Creek's Western-themed Frontier Town, the Smokehouse is the kind of place where you'd expect to find John Wayne chugging tequila at the weathered copper bar, his horse tied to the hitchin' post outside.

PHM0814EB22aThe adjacent Pour House patio boasts a cobblestone floor, rustic plank bar, and wall-to-wall patrons at happy hour.

All domestic bottles and drafts cost just $2.25, while specialty brews such as Dale's Pale and Big Sky Moose Drool will set your wallet back $3.50 each. If you're man enough (or woman enough) to ride with the big boys, try the Cave Creek Chili Beer, a light Corona-style lager infused with spicy peppers. There's no discount grub here, but guests can indulge in affordable cheese crisps or nachos ($7 each) to help soak up $6 Cave Creek cosmos and other premium cocktails. $3 house wine and wells. 11 a.m.-6 p.m. M-F. Bar and patio only.
