You can go on a tasting tour of more than 20 metro Phoenix restaurants under one roof, thanks to Scottsdale Spice. The upcoming epicurean extravaganza – and fundraiser for the Scottsdale Chamber of Commerce's educational and economic development programs – fires up the ovens at The Venue Scottsdale from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday, September 12. And we've got two tickets (a $110 value) to give away to one lucky reader.
Participating restaurants include San Tan Brewing Company, EVO, Craft 64, Hula's Modern Tiki, and Honey Bear's BBQ. While attendees eat their way around the venue, eclectic cover band Sapphire Sky will provide live music ranging from classic rock and country to Top 40 and hip-hop. Two culinary competitions cook up excitement: First, attendees will vote for their favorite restaurants and dishes in several categories including Spiciest Dish, Best Dessert and Most Authentically Arizonan. Then chefs will present dishes to a panel of judges – which this year includes PHOENIX magazine editor Niki D'Andrea – for a chance to win a Golden Ticket to compete for a total prize purse of $300,000 in the World Food Championships, held this November in Kissimmee, Florida.
Tickets for Scottsdale Spice cost $55 each, and include unlimited food samplings (while supplies last) and seven alcoholic beverages (this is a 21-and-older event). But we've got a pair to give away. If you'd like free tickets to Scottsdale Spice, leave a comment on this blog telling us why you think you should win them. We'll announce a winner on September 8. Good luck, and bon appétit!
