PHM0915EBDT02Thanks to a philandering grandfather, Pablo Picasso has a robust genetic legacy in Cuba: 40-odd descendants who carry the Picasso name.

Counter Intuitive pays homage to these “island Picassos” with a seasonal cocktail menu inspired by the family’s Havana ties. A mélange of contrasting sweet, herbal and spicy liquors, the weekend speak-eatery’s Walking Stick is a flavorful expression of the famed artist’s Cubist style.

The mixology masterpiece begins with 1 oz. mezcal, 1 oz. Hamilton Demerara rum, 1/4 oz. Campari, 1/4 oz. Benedictine and 1/4 oz. Cherry Heering. Add 3⁄4 oz. each lime juice and cinnamon syrup. Shake, double-strain and pour into a Collins glass. Garnish with mint sprigs and a cinnamon stick for a bright, artsy libation that will effortlessly lift you out of any blue period.
