Though the John Lennon-penned song “Strawberry Fields Forever” reportedly got its name from a Salvation Army children’s home near Liverpool, England, it’s easy to mistake the chorus for a serenade about ripe red fruit. These sweet summertime staples are the lifeblood of Fez’s Strawberry Fields, a bright and refreshing cocktail that marries the flavors of a Creamsicle and fresh berries in a perfect, pulpy union.
Bartenders begin by muddling two small strawberries and two orange wedges in a 16 oz. pint glass, then fill the glass 3/4 full with ice. They add 1 3/4 oz. each DeKuyper strawberry liqueur, Absolut Vanilia and Absolut Mandarin, and finish with fresh-squeezed orange juice and a splash of Sprite. They garnish it with a slice of fresh orange and a whole strawberry for a psychedelic cocktail that’ll make you feel like “nothing is real, and nothing to get hung about.”
