Photo courtesy SOL CocinaBack in the day, if you were going out to celebrate Cinco de Mayo, you’d go to a Mexican restaurant, tip back a few margaritas and dip a few chips in guacamole. Today you can celebrate with pizza, ahi tuna nachos and cupcakes laden with tequila. We’ve rounded up a few spots for you to commemorate the Mexican army's 1862 victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla.

Eklectic Pie
Rundown: On May 5, Eklectic Pie will serve $5 pizzas (any pizza, any size) and $2 beers from 5-8 p.m. Locations in Mesa and Chandler.
Highlights: Try the Mexican Fiesta, a 10-layered pizza with salsa, refried beans, mozzarella and cheddar cheeses, grilled chicken, onions, black olives, tomatoes, jalapeños and crushed tortilla chips and topped with sour cream.

Fired Pie
Rundown: All day on Cinco de Mayo, Fired Pie will be dishing out a spicy Southwest pizza for $5 at 13 Valley locations.
Highlights: The Southwest pizza is loaded with chipotle-ranch sauce, mozzarella, grilled chicken, roasted peppers, onions, black olives and jalapeños topped with mixed greens tossed in cilantro-ranch dressing.

Jamba Juice
Rundown: From May 4-8, buy a small Chili Mango or Mango A Go Go smoothie for only $2.99 using this coupon.
Highlights: The Chili Mango smoothie, which balances the sweetness of passionfruit-mango juice, frozen mangos and sherbet with pineapple with a the fiery kick of a spicy chili-lime blend.

Los Sombreros
Rundown: Celebrate at Los Sombreros with five appetizers and five drinks for $5 each from 3 p.m. on May 5.
Highlights: Grab a seat on the patio and choose from margaritas, mojitos, martinis, sangria, white or red house wine and $2.50 bottles of Dos Equis and $3.50 bottles of other beers. Appetizers include chips, salsa, guacamole; three crispy tacos, including chicken, potato, picadillo or hibiscus; corn cake soufflé; fig and panela cheese salad; and watermelon and panela cheese salad.

Miracle Mile
Rundown: At Miracle Mile, celebrate “Cinco de Mile” all day with a $9 meal deal.
Highlight: The deal includes chicken enchiladas covered with red sauce and a side of beans. Wash it down with Corona beer.

Paul Martin’s American Grill
Rundown: On May 4 and 5, Paul Martin’s American Grill will offer two special dishes created for Cinco de Mayo. Happy hour runs from 3-7 p.m.
Highlights: Food offerings include shrimp campechana ($9), a fresh bay shrimp Mexican cocktail with salted corn tortilla chips; and mesquite grilled poblano chile relleno ($13), filled with sweet corn, shiitake mushrooms, zucchini, spinach and cheese served with red pepper cream and cilantro. During happy hour in the bar and on the patio, enjoy two different Cinco de Mayo cocktails – a Corralejo strawberry splash ($9) or the Peligroso Blanco margarita ($9) served on the rocks with salt.

Rundown: For Cinco de Mayo only, Pei Wei will offer ahi tuna nachos for $5.99.
Highlight: The nachos will feature ahi tuna, mango, tomato, cucumber, onion and cilantro topped with wasabi aioli and a crisp wonton chip.

Sierra Bonita
Rundown: The grill will have $5 margarita specials all day and five lunch specials for $10.
Highlights: Try a fresh-squeezed or pomegranate margarita. Lunch specials include chicharrón-potato taquitos, chipotle chicken street tacos, red chili pork tostadas, Sonoran-style hot dog and green chile quesadilla.

Sol Cocina
Rundown: Sol Cocina will celebrate Cinco de Mayo by offering five hot deals for $5 each from 11 a.m.-10 p.m.
Highlights: Specials include taco vampire, taco gobernador, naked guacamole, and house and watermelon margaritas made with El Jimador tequila. Live music with Scott Hallock from 5-9 p.m. and a photo booth.

Rundown: Sprinkles gets in the Cinco de Mayo spirit with a margarita cupcake available through May 22.
Highlight: The key lime cupcake is loaded with Casamigos Blanco tequila and topped with lime frosting.

Sumo Maya
Rundown: The first 100 people who bring at least five pesos can pay for the Casamigos margarita with Mexican currency. Limit of two margaritas purchased with pesos per person.
Highlight: All day social hour pricing in the bar and a DJ in the evening.

Taco Guild
Rundown: Submit a name for the featured Roger Clyne cocktail that day to win a $50 Taco Guild gift card and a chance for your cocktail to be featured on the drink menu until next Cinco de Mayo.
Highlights: Taco Guild celebrates with a $1.99 cochinita pibil taco special; $3 Negro Modelos; and $5.50 Roger Cline cocktails.

Tanzy Restaurant
Rundown: Just in time for Cinco de Mayo, Tanzy Restaurant is ladling up a “shared cocktail experience” by offering three varieties of “patio punch” for $20.
Highlights: Punches include: Afternoon Delight, with New Amsterdam vodka, lemon, berries, Aperol, fresh lemonade and mint; Southern Decadence, spiked with Bacardi Anejo, El Dorado 8 Year Demerara rum, Balsam American Amaro, oolong tea, strawberry, passion fruit and pineapple; and Fatal Attraction, a blend of smoked tea, blood orange, Camarena 100 percent de Agave Bourbon, barrel-aged Reposado tequila and Lucky Rabbit's Foot.

Uptown Alley
Rundown: This Surprise entertainment venue will offer $5 food and drink deals.
Highlights: Enjoy street tacos with choice of al pastor, carne asada, chicken or carnitas; and Three Amigos margaritas and $3 Coronas.

Rundown: Take the Habanero Inferno Taco Challenge at Z’Tejas by ordering a plate of fiery Z’Tejas street tacos. One of the four tacos is made with the hottest sauce in the world—but you won’t know which one. If you can eat all four tacos and complete the challenge you will get $5 off the normally $12 meal (excludes any happy hour priced tacos). You can also enjoy $5 Dulce Vida margaritas and $3 Coronas all day on Cinco de Mayo.
