DRINK THIS

Tiki bars are all the rage these days, from Painkiller in New York City to Smuggler’s Cove in San Francisco.

You can get your tropical drink fix here at Hula’s Modern Tiki with a Scorpion Bowl adorned by hula girls and extra-long straws for your entire party (it serves two to four).

Bartenders combine 6 ounces light rum, 1 ½ ounces dark rum, 1 ½ ounces brandy, 2 ounces orgeat syrup, 2 ½ ounces lime juice, 4 ounces pineapple juice and 2 ounces cranberry juice in a large shaker (or you can stir it in a pitcher), fill the bowl with ice and then pour the mixture over it. In the center-raised receptacle, they add 1 ounce of Bacardi 151 rum and set it ablaze.

The surf kitsch, tiki tchotchkes and a few sips of this stinging potion will make you forget we’re landlocked.
