Butter & Me Cupcakes
Instead of the predictable bouquet of overpriced roses, why not shower your sweetheart with something a little sweeter – and a lot more local? Kelly Garcia of Butter & Me, a Scottsdale-based commercial bakery (watch for a retail storefront coming soon), has created two new cupcake flavors with Valentine’s Day in mind.

Chocolate and vanilla lovers are both covered: Butter & Me is whipping up a vanilla raspberry cupcake with vanilla buttercream frosting and a dark chocolate cupcake with milk chocolate buttercream frosting. Both are surprisingly moist, not too sweet and kissed with sweet cream butter.

The raspberry-swirled vanilla cupcake is garnished with a hand-made paper heart while the chocolate cupcake is adorned with a hot pink fondant heart. Rather have it the other way around? No problem. Garcia custom garnishes her cupcakes.

Standard size cupcakes are $3 each, with a minimum of a dozen (same cake flavor, although you can vary the buttercream frosting flavor). Garcia, an avid scrapbooker, will wrap your cupcakes in an attractive box made from recycled paper with a pretty recycled cotton ribbon, and include a customized note card for an additional $5.
