Now that spring break has come and gone, it’s safe to venture out to the “Arizona Riviera” for some lakeside partying of your own – sans sunburns and alcohol poisoning, s’il vous plaît. These three new activities will get you in the Lake Havasu spirit, and they’re all in walking distance of one another.
Rubba Duck Safari
Be the captain of your own destiny – and your own vessel – by renting a personal watercraft at Rubba Duck Safari, conveniently located along the Bridgewater Channel next to the world-renowned London Bridge. Owner Dallas Finch started the Safari to empower visitors to explore the lake’s bridge, light houses, rock formations and Copper Canyon at their own pace and on their own time, from early birds sailing out to watch the sunrise to lovers basking in the romantic glow of the sunset. Each boat can accommodate two to four people and rental fees range from $69-$119.

Mirage Eclipse Pedalboard Rental
Stand-up paddleboards have been all the rage in recent years (see page XXX for SUP yoga in the Valley), but Tempe-based LowerGear Outdoors (lowergear.com) now offers test rides of Hobie Cat’s stand-up pedalboard, introduced to the public in 2016, at Southwest Kayaks in Lake Havasu City. The Mirage Eclipse pedalboard is steered using pedals and handlebars but can also be used as a workaday SUP. It is available for rent for one to four hours, starting at $40.

Afternoon Tea at London Bridge Resort
Come during the week for a full-on British fest at Lake Havasu’s premier resort, where you can enjoy a spot of tea every Wednesday at 3 p.m. while listening to a brief, engaging lecture on the history of the London Bridge and of tea itself. Lift your pinky while you sip Earl Grey and nibble on tea sandwiches, scones (with clotted cream and jam, of course), cookies (ahem, biscuits) and cheesecake. It’s an Anglophile bargain at $10 per person.
