September 27: Mogollon Monster 100
This 106-mile – because 100 wasn’t enough – race traces the Mogollon Rim outside of Pine and includes four challenging climbs. mogollonmonster100.com

October 3-4: Flagstaff Endurance Runs
This event includes a 56K ultra, a 37K SkyRace (with a 4,000 muscle-burning climb to summit the 11,600-foot Agassiz Ski Lift at Arizona Snowbowl), and a 5K race with more than 1,000 feet of climbing. runsteep.com/flagstaff

December 28-January 3, 2015: Across the Years
This event sets fixed-time goals (24, 48, or 72 hours, or six days) during which runners attempt to cover as much distance as possible around Camelback Ranch in Glendale. Runners pace themselves to pass through the start/finish line (and accompanying village of aid stations and spectators) at midnight on December 31 to ring in the New Year. acrosstheyears.com

March 2015: Old Pueblo 50-Mile Endurance Run
