Relish Burger Bistro

The first hint that this isn’t your typical burger bar is the setting. Diners overlook the resort golf course from a sleek, upper-level clubhouse lined with a glittering array of high-end liquors. Those spirits come in handy for creamy, alcoholic shake concoctions like the signature vanilla ice cream splashed with Van Gogh chocolate or vanilla vodka and a decadent swirl of Godiva dark chocolate or vanilla liqueur. The so-fun-it’s-hard-to-have-just-one root beer float dresses up vanilla ice cream and boutique draft root beer with Three Olives root beer vodka. Round out your caloric orgy with a nibble – perhaps the over-the-top one-pound Kobe cheeseburger, or the juicy turkey-apple burger smothered in cave-aged bleu cheese. And lest the sticker shock startle you – spiked shakes cost $12-$14, and that Kobe burger runs $32 – these are rich, generously portioned treats, and sharing is encouraged.

When there’s bourbon in the restaurant’s name, it’s a good bet you’re in for some fine sipping experiences. This luxurious steakhouse created by celebrity chef Michael Mina serves up a signature milkshake called the Bourbon Malt, crafted with plenty of Jim Beam and sweetened with salty caramel. The bartenders know the perfect amount of liquor to complement the sugar, and drinks are more dessert than cocktail. Here’s our idea of a perfect dinner: Grab a seat at the bar and order a wood-grilled burger or a vegetarian falafel burger with a side of crisp-edged duck fat fries and a Grasshopper shake, made with chocolate liqueur and Crème de Menthe. After the meal, finish with a rum raisin shake that mixes Appleton rum with plumped raisins. Tip: The dark wood, mirror-lined bar oozes elegance, so remember to dress nicely for that seductive shake-a-thon.
